Suited to serve
Three days ago my current employer assigned me to a new client where I had to go dressed on a suit. I already used a suit a few times, but this time I started to think about the meaning of the suit: Why do they require us to use a suit?My final thought is this: You have to use a suit to impress someone, which means that you have to use it when you are "serving" someone.
After thinking for a while I found that I used a suit when I was interviewed by someone. During the interview the interviewer doesn't have to use a suit (they can use it, though), but what is for sure is that my boss uses it when he's to visit a client. I also realized (when I was at another client) that such client didn't use a suit when meeting my boss, but he used it when he was visiting his own client. And I'm sure this goes on and on.
Wearing a suit is not something uncomfortable nor nasty, but I the fact that it's used to show respect to someone else makes it a bit "awkward". Don't you think?
